Workshops and Panels
Take a look at the amazing workshops and panels we have slated for the event:
Panels
1) A Global Perspective
Thinking globally must become a part of every individual’s life. All people can come together around the common issue of sustaining our world. But how do we reach, unite, and harness the power of this community? And how can we work within that global framework to make more responsible individual and local choices?
2) The Science
Science helps us make sense of the world. Whether studying chemical exposures, environmental or public health risks, climate change, resource depletion, mass pollution, correlation to disease, or any number of other topics, the population turns to sound science for answers. Our expert panelists will educate us on the effects of human actions and how we can work to lessen our global impact.
3) School Food Sustainability
This panel discussion addresses how schools can start their own food-related programming and education initiatives, and how they may positively impact health, environment, and community. Experts in nutrition education and food management will share their experiences in this growing sector of food sustainability. Participants are also encouraged to attend the rooftop garden and sustainable lunch workshops.
4) Green Schools
What products are used in classrooms, janitorial closets, and on school grounds? What constitutes a green school? Find out how we can strive towards this ideal, navigating obstacles throughout the process. This panel focuses on toxic exposures in our school environments, effects on public health, and how we can create
healthy school communities given research and greener alternatives.
5) New Media
